Mercy Care
Through our Charism of Mercy and the spirit of Catherine McAuley, we commit ourselves to serving the needs of the elderly in our care.

Care Homes provide compassionate mercy care for our Sisters and for the women and men who are resident in our homes.

Life expectancy has increased considerably in recent decades. Statistics show that Great Britain has a high percentage of elderly persons, many of whom need care. Changing family patterns have made the elderly among the very vulnerable in our society. To address this need we have made a commitment to the care of the elderly.

We have two Care Homes:

  1. St Michael’s Care Home, Clacton on Sea. There are 43 beds.
  2. St Teresa’s Care Home in Fishguard South Wales. Today there is accommodation for 26 residents. The home overlooks the Fishguard Harbour.

To our Sisters who are also resident in our Homes Venerable Catherine would say:

“Though want of health or capacity may hinder a Sister from sharing the active duties of the Congregation yet she is doing a great deal, both for God and her Congregation, if she is kind and charitable to all.”
Venerable Catherine McAuley

Venerable Catherine would say to all who work in our Homes:

“Act with great tenderness, removing all anxiety from the mind of the sick, so that they may be able with tranquility to give every thought to God alone”
