Christmas at St Michael’s Care Home, Clacton

Besides the usual activities, there were some special events in the days before Christmas:  a Carol Service to which families were invited; entertainment; Christmas party and a visit by Father Christmas.  One particular highlight was the Staff Production – the housekeeping team acted a sketch from Oliver Twist (including a Workhouse Warden who made us all jump when she yelled  MORE? in answer to Oliver’s request, a very convincing Artful Dodger and some very nifty pickpocket moves), the Filipino staff (and one honorary member) presented a traditional and graceful dance, the senior management wore unbelievable inflated costumes for their dance routine.  All joined together to form a Choir of Angels for the  finale and the  audience sang along heartily. We recognise that staff prepared and rehearsed their production in their own time. Also that they go to endless trouble to make Christmas a happy and special time for residents.

One member of staff stayed late one evening to create this spectacular balloon decoration for the front hall. Very welcoming for our visitors.
Christmas tree in the McAuley room which is our main dining area and gathering place for events.

A number of residents had family join them for lunch on Christmas Day.  A very special time.
