Twenty years ago, four Sisters of Mercy, Sr Patricia, Sr Mary, Sr Martha, and Sr Breda, arrived in the Sundays River Valley. They came with a simple intention: to live in the community and serve where they were needed most.
Over time, their presence became part of everyday life here in Addo. What began with small acts of care slowly grew into the programmes that continue today through Marist Mercy Care, supporting children, families, and many others in the community.
Today Sr Breda and Sr Martha are still here, continuing the work they began all those years ago. Over the past two decades they have walked alongside many people in Addo. They have also welcomed volunteers from around the world who came to learn, serve, and experience the community for themselves, working alongside staff from the community who now help lead and sustain the programmes each day.
Hundreds of people have been shaped by their example. Children who have grown up in the programmes, families who have found support, and volunteers who have carried those experiences back to their own hometowns.
We are grateful for their steady presence over the past twenty years and for the many lives they have touched along the way.

Congratulations to the Sisters on this remarkable milestone, from the Marist Mercy Care community.
