The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Congregation Greeting to Her Majesty

Inspired by Sister Anne Reddington’s beautiful painting for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, I found on our Stechford Community bookshelf, a lovely book produced by the Bible Society and two other Charities as a tribute to Her Majesty on her 90th Birthday. Reading it, I found a fascinating and very touching detail concerning her Coronation Ceremony. The young Elizabeth had to carry two sceptres, one of which was called ‘the Rod of Equity and Mercy’. At the top of this was a white enamelled dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit. Like her father before her, this woman of deep Christian faith put her hand into God’s hand when she committed her whole life to the service of others.

These faith-based facts gave rise to the Greeting and Prayer accompanying Anne’s fine work of art which our Congregation will send to Her Majesty.
